All of our young people need something different to ensure our school promotes equality, which is why a bespoke education timetable is necessary for some learners who require further support to access the curriculum and lead an independent life in adulthood. Hopefields are an inclusive school and aim to provide quality intervention packages as part of a young person's EHCP.
As part of our bespoke package, we offer specific interventions. At Hopefields, we identify the needs of each of our learners and implement steps to support the individual with development in four key areas: Cognition, Social/Communication, emotional and behavioral regulation and physical development. Our staff team work closely with each learner to identify the need. From there, we coordinate a package that is suitable and allow for a six week period to access the success and progress the learner. At Hopefields, we value the benefit of specific and targeted intervention to help improve the success and outcomes of the learner.

Interventions are listed below, but are not limited to:
Lexonik is a word and phonics based approach. Lexonik has been proven to improve reading age and ability levels. We have evidenced significant improvements with students improving reading ages of up to five years, after only 6 months of Lexonik intervention. Lexonik is a phonics based program that incorporates basic chunking of words in an easy to understand and relatable format. From the starting point, learners progress through stages to recognise word patterns, build words and develop comprehension and cerement contextual links of key vocabulary.
GL Assessment is an online tool that staff use with students to ascertain current and possible future attainment levels. From the assessment, staff can see gaps in the knowledge of students and ensure that the team plan, prepare and assess teaching content and incorporate strategies for improvement.
An online package of maths and English, tailored to the ability of students and able to access 24/7 from home and school, BKSB is instrumental in providing a specific approach to improving Literacy and Numeracy from Entry Level 1 up to GCSE higher grades. Future Steps facilitate the OT within school, with staff supporting and implementing the programs with learners within the school day. We have a regular OT from future steps come to Hopefields once a week. They work closely with staff to ensure they have an holistic view of each individual. From there, they work with the individual to create a 6 week program focusing on regulation, sensory seeking behavior, physical development and emotional intelligence. The OT works collaboratively with the staff to ensure that the programs can be implemented into the learner's timetable. Staff find it important and useful to work so closely with a therapeutic professional, which ultimately improves our practice. Learners have seen improved attainment in class, developed regulation strategies and mostly they enjoy engaging with therapy in differing ways.
Animals and Equine facilitated learning form part of the unique therapeutic offer in school.
EFL an experiential learning approach that promotes the development of life skills and personal goals through equine-assisted activities. Combining the natural beauty of horses and their unquestionable ability to create calm and peace to those that are involved, our learners grow quickly in confidence and self-esteem, whilst we create a safe space for them to express their inner most thoughts and feelings. Whilst emotional development is at the forefront of our program, our learners also appreciate the gentle beauty of horses in their natural environment, opening their eyes to the beauty of the world around them.
Our EFL package is delivered by Alison Laws who has over 25 years experience in rehabilitating horses and people, learners get to experience the true connection that can be created with horses. All sessions are delivered 1-1. Hopefields are particularly proud of this offer, being one of the only schools that have the capacity to deliver this experience to our students

Therapeutic conversations are offered as part of a solo package or intertwined with our other packages such EFL. All of our staff receive information and training in the Nurtured Heart Approach, a model created by Howard Glasser in America and is fundamental in everything we do. The Nurtured Heart Approach, in its being, is highly therapeutic and trauma-informed. See more by clicking on the drop down menu above.
Sometimes, the biggest challenge our learners face is communicating how they feel. We facilitate and support conversations and, in some cases, narrate emotions for our learners. By modelling vocabulary and showing our learners that it is ok to express themselves, we see huge changes in behavior and personality. At Hopefields, we believe that behavior that is both good and bad is a form of communication, because of this, we must support our learners through challenges to help them understand themselves and the world in a more appropriate way.
At times, our learners benefit from specific and focused outcome-led academic intervention to reduce gaps in knowledge and support accreditation and examination. Subject specific intervention is co-ordinated by the curriculum team, with the oversight of the Interventions Lead.
